Union County Heritage Festival
Wild Turkey 5K Trail Run/Walk

Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 8:00am

Join your fellow trail race enthusiasts for a unique course starting and finishing by the teaching gardens of the Union County Extension Master Gardeners. The race proceeds benefit the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. Ever seen a bird cheer?! Volunteers of CWR will be waiting at the Finish Line with a group of their feathered friends and former patients to thank you for your support!

Whether you’re new to running or have been at it for years, you’ll enjoy the beautiful gardens, woods, and fields on your way to, through, and from Union County’s Helms Park. Walkers, no need to rush, take time to enjoy the sights and sounds of Union County nature without the distraction of UC traffic.

The Master Gardeners of Union County are your hosts and thank you for your participation. It is our goal for both the Wild Turkey 5K race and the UC Heritage Festival to provide inspiration for individuals to attain and sustain a healthy lifestyle, community and environment. As gardeners, we believe that physical fitness and nature are a natural fit with each benefiting the other!

Plan to stay after the race for the awards presentation and the announcements of door-prize winners. The Heritage Festival will already be underway and the 1st Blue Grass band will start performing at 9:30 am. Be sure to come prepared to make a purchase if you should run into a vendor that has something you desire!
